2/15/2010 update

Not much this week because I got a new tool the Wagner Safe-t-planer. So I had to build a table top for it and get that set-up. I was able to plane the PLM 30" scale bass body down and it still needs to be run through the drum sander to get it smoothed down a little more before adding the top plate. I have been thinking about adding purpleheart fingerboard bindings to this bass. I hope to have some pictures up soon of some more progress. Also please check out my Facebook page and become a fan so you can be kept up to date on things going on around here. There you will be able find more info and pricing on my instruments. Have a great Presidents Day!

Update on the PLM-4 30" scale bass

This weekend I got the neck shape cut out and headstock along with the f-board cut to their basic shape. This bass I am building as a one off so it is taking me a little longer because I am not using any templates on this one. I may decied to make some just incase I want to offer this model in the future.

I hope to get the f-baord on this week and radiused. along with the back of the neck profiled. I have deceided to do a transparent blue finish on the body and maybe on the headstock. Not sure on the headstock yet because the f-board and headplate match with the grain pattern. It should look nice when complete. I am also thinking of adding a pickgaurd to it made from Ambrosia maple along with purpleheart f-board binding. It should look pretty cool when complete. Also check out my facebook page, look for Meyers Guitars. I will post a link once I learn more about this facebook stuff.

Pictures of some wood I got.

Nothing much to put up at this time, so I figured I would post some pics of the wood I bought. One pic will be of some Ash that I may book match to go on the 30" scale bass as a top plate. The other pic is the Poplar I got as well to use in some upcoming projects. I do not have any new pics of guitars because I am still grain filling the TBM (Koa Top Bass), so not much to look at right now. I hope to get the last coat on today and tomorrow have it sanded and ready for paint.
